Science Buzz Cafe

Bringing Science & Curiosity Back into Culture

A place where people meet to discuss the latest ideas of science and technology that are changing our lives.

About the event
Jim will give an overview of tracking, bird language, and some of the lore that comes down to us from the ancient verbal and contemporary animal tracking traditions. This material is treated in the context of biology and the cognitive sciences, with particular focus on the concept of the "organism-environment coupling" as described in work of Mark Johnson, George Lakoff, Francisco Varela, Vittorio Gallese, and others. Out of this background Jim will explore the outline of a fully modern spiritual life based on gratitude, consistent with science and tied back to our very earliest roots as human beings.
