Soul memoir uses the raw material of your life story to reveal the deeper intelligence of your inner journey. It helps you to write your story in a way that clarifies your present and your future as well as your past. Through a variety of exercises, you are encouraged to reach down into the events of your life and find the deeper layers of wisdom and healing that may lie within them.

You are welcome to bring work you want feedback on, and whether or not you have prior material, come ready to develop some during the class. The weekend is ideal for both beginners and also for writers with some experience who want to develop themes and hone their craft. Roger provides a relaxed and nonjudgmental space in which to share your work and to receive supportive feedback.

The beautiful land and IONS center, along with wonderful food from the IONS kitchen, all create the perfect setting for a creative, reflective, and inspiring weekend.

“One way to slip through your own resistance to a greater aliveness is to hear a poem that speaks to the essence of the shift you are looking for. That’s what a good poem does; it is the distillation of a universal truth; its precision and clarity enables it to slip through the sentries of the heart to your core. When you feel something viscerally, when you know it in your bones, you can act on it.  A good poem can be a catalyst for life-changing action.” –Roger Housden
