In this workshop we will explore the beautiful, creative medium of glass and together make mosaic art. There is no one better to guide you into and through this artistic process than master mosaic artist, Martin Cheek. Martin will take you through the creative process one step at a time. All levels of experience with mosaic art are welcome as Martin addresses each student at his or her level of experience from beginner and beyond.
The course contains hands on work creating mosaic pieces, practical demonstrations, slide-show presentations, and individual instruction. All activities in the workshop are aimed to ensure you go home fully equipped in making mosaics and motivated to develop your own creative personal style.
Martin pioneered the use of hand made glass fusions in mosaics. He is a master of this process and will have hundreds of fused glass pieces on hand for you to experiment with and use in your own creations during this workshop. As a participant, you will bring your own design or inspirational reference (photo, picture, image, etc). You will then work with various materials including stained glass, smalti, vitreous glass, millefiore, and Martin’s hand made fusions to create pieces full of texture, dimension, originality, and color. Using examples of Martin’s own work, he will show you how the various materials affect your finished piece.
You will be able to order any custom glass fusions from Martin prior to the workshop, should you have your design idea in mind ahead of time. You can see how Martin uses fusions in creating mosaic art by visiting his website and his blog where he has posted dozens of pictures from past mosaic classes. This is going to be a fun, hands on, inspirational, creative boost for anyone wanting to learn mosaic art or who wants to improve their skills and learn more about incorporating fusions into their artwork.

“I learned more in three days than in a whole term of History of Art” Libby Purves, The Times
“No the course did not turn out to be what I expected - it was much more entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.” Sarah McGraw
“I thought I would let you know how my class with Martin Cheek went last week. It surpassed all of my expectations. I had 20 people, more than I wanted but could not say no. It worked out great and Martin had no trouble with those numbers. All of them had wonderful reviews of the class!” Mosaic Glass Art Studio Host
