This advanced training is for MBCT and MBSR teachers who wish to deepen their understanding of universal principles for teaching mindfulness-based interventions. As such, the focus for this training is less about teaching to the structure of MBCT and/or MBSR and more about intentionally embodying mindful presence and strengthening the facilitation of mindful inquiry. Inquiry is both a practice and a skill. As a practice it is the ability to convey the philosophic underpinnings of mindfulness with an integrity that invites our participants to embark on a journey of discovery about the relevance of mindfulness practice as an approach in the prevention of depression relapse and for stress reduction. As a skill, mindful inquiry demonstrates a willingness to embody the spirit of mindfulness with an oral congruity of where that understanding rests. The training is highly interactive and highlights the necessity of personal practice as a platform from which to teach.
This training offers the time to nurture these qualities through silent mindfulness practice, through simulated patient-teacher encounters, discussion, and personal supervision from the retreat leaders.
This advanced teacher training will be led by experienced clinicians, mindfulness teachers, and retreat leaders, Susan Woods, LICSW and Char Wilkins, LCSW.
Registration will be limited to 40 participants for this advanced training in order to provide an environment that promotes in depth learning in an atmosphere of intimacy and shared experience.
This 5-day advanced teacher training intensive is intended for MBCT and MBSR teachers who have completed a 5 or 7-day foundational professional training in MBCT and/or MBSR. Participants will have taught at least one 8-week MBCT or MBSR course and be licensed in their health field. All participants will have an ongoing personal mindfulness practice and have attended at least one 7-day silent teacher led mindfulness meditation retreat; MBCT and MBSR professional trainings are not considered silent mindfulness retreats.
