So since I found this site I know there are others out there trying to sort out the truth and the fiction from Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol book. As a result I have started a blog that I am doing research on the different topics listed in his book and getting the facts. If you want to check out here is the link.
Thanks

If Dan Brown's book opens a few eyes, if only to question what they may stoically believe, could that be a positive thing. If it's the truth, does it matter who says it? If it's partially the truth, and leads some to a higher degree of self-wisdom, does it matter if it comes from a novel?

Dan is a story teller, engaged in deception in order to sell books and movies, so his truths are like the seed a bird picks up while feeding, after it has left the birds other end.
LOL.....Well said!
"when you hear the statement: "you cannot handle the truth", it is most likely the case."
So true lol not laughing at what you said more the start of my own reply which probably sounds a bit silly!
But yeah a lot of people can't handle the truth and prefer to ignore it or sweep things under the carpet, very often at others expense!
People really cannot handle the truth, especially the truth that reveals their own behaviour and negative aspects of their personality!! Nobody likes to think of themselves as being negative or hurtful but they can be. Although I'm sure there are people who are well aware of being negative, hurtful and downright evil and don't seem to care! I guess some people can live with guilt like this or possibly even don't have any at all!
Dan is a story teller, engaged in deception in order to sell books and movies, so his truths are like the seed a bird picks up while feeding, after it has left the birds other end.
Truth is always simple. When it is surrounded by deception and complications, then everything that flows forward from that source is corrupted. The more complicated the story, the more deception.
We are challenged with accepting the raw unfiltered truth, as to us, it appears as white noise. It may sound corny when coming from
an actor, but when you hear the statement: "you cannot handle the truth", it is most likely the case.
It is easy for a creative person like Brown to use his imagination to fill in the white noise with his own filtered perceptions, never truely
understanding that which he is seeing, or hearing.
lol so damn true!!
Drama will always outsell truth, but truth is often stranger than fiction! That's if you can ever find the real truth!
Which brings me to the question of what actually is truth!
One mans truth is another mans lie! truth + individual interpretation = more questions!
I don't think many people come here for that reason. Im pretty new around here but from what i have gathered not many people reference the novel. I admit that i learned of it's existence via the book, however i just found it as a place for like minds to engage in conversation. If not obvious....I am also a Mason and i assure you everything in Dan Brown's novels (although entertaining) is only partially accurate.
Here is a fact: Drama will always outsell truth.
Good luck in your search. :)
