Temple Awards Presentation to Wendy Tokuda and Edgar Mitchell, ScD
The Temple Awards for Creative Altruism are presented to outstanding altruists whose lives and work embody the inspirational light of unselfish service motivated by love. In this plenary session we will honor this year’s recipients and hear about their award-winning work.
Edgar Mitchell, ScD, is the founder of IONS and a former Apollo astronaut. His many credentials and degrees include four honorary doctorates and a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT. Dr. Mitchell is a luminescent lecturer, and has authored several books, including Psychic Exploration: A Challenge for Science and The Way of the Explorer.
Wendy Tokuda of CBS 5 has been a news anchor and reporter in the Bay Area and Los Angeles for over 25 years. She co-founded Students Rising Above with Javier Valencia, which began as a scholarship program supporting outstanding students who are typically the first in their families to go to college and lack the financial resources and family support to fulfill their educational dreams. Tokuda has won numerous awards for reporting and community service.
