Friday Morning Plenary Sessions
9:30am to 12:30pm
In addition to our plenary speakers we will also enjoy music, experiential pieces, and dialogue during the plenary sessions. The Friday Plenary program includes all presentations listed below.
Using Sound and Voice to Balance Mind and Body
—Jill Purce
Purce demonstrates how to empower our lives through the use of sound to release dynamic energy for physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual healing. By freeing our voices we can find joy and spiritual ecstasy.
Caring Science: Passage to the Heart for Whole-Self Healing—Jean Watson, PhD, RN
This session presents the evolution and implementation of Caring Science, which offers a deep ethical/philosophical cosmology for healing and health care—both ancient and contemporary. The Ethics of Belonging and Ethics of Face restore human caring and a love for healing back into our understanding of whole-person health care.
Music—Giovanni Mandala
Giovanni Mandala is an award-winning songwriter, composer, and guitarist.
The Time of Our Lives: Opening to the Gifts of both Past and Future—Joanna Macy, PhD
“Then the knowing comes: I can open to another life that is wide and timeless.” – R.M. Rilke
We can live our lives within a larger time frame than the short-term views driven by forces of technology and growth economics. Macy will share how embracing strongly felt relations with past and coming generations will call forth creativity, courage, and staying power for bringing into form a life-sustaining society.
