A self-described rebel who came of age in the 1960s and ’70s, Jim Walsh always cringed at the ritual his mother, an ardent Catholic, would subject him to whenever he visited her. “Every time I’d come home,” recalls Walsh, who obviously didn’t share his mother’s faith, “she’d take the holy water out and make the sign of the cross on my forehead. Overall, 52% of people surveyed say they believe in prophetic dreams. More than 40% agree that places can be haunted and that ancient advanced civilizations, such as Atlantis, once existed, just as writers from Plato to psychic Edgar Cayce have described.
